Mauricio integrates his studio work in drawing, photography, painting, assemblage, video and writing as part of a broader social practice. His work in the studio considers conventions, language, and slippages between categories and roles that negotiate recognition. A-Museum’s collaborations with artists, migrant communities, cultural institutions and forests, engage scenes through which territories (whether psychic, natural, constructed, social or political) and peoples experience migration. These scenes intend to expand the threshold of recognizability beyond matters of value and enter the realm of relation. By engaging these elements and processes of cultural production in this way, Higuera intends to present A-Museum as a documentation of the undocumented.
