Imagine Us Together, with a POSCA in our hands…

The following are some projects we are proposing or have already accomplished. Your support would help us tell the stories and acomplish the projects we are working on at the Bruckner migrant shelter in the Bronx.

PROJECT 1 : AIR FOR PEACE
We are currently developing an RC Model airplane. It’s quite the story, imagine being the Jr. European champion in aeromodeling and years later having to escape the war in Russia and Ukraine because otherwise you would be drafted to operate drones. And then landing in NYC and developing an RC airplane model themed on peace? That’s one of our stories… and we plan on developing a series of drawing/painting workshops to add decals to the plane once it is produced. Those POSCA markers look promising to help us paint and bring everyone’s ideas together.

PROJECT 2: BANANA COLUMNS
Have you ever been told or heard the phrase: “… just got off the banana boat”? We have. In fact, we’ve developed a whole color system based on banana coloration to reference green (fresh off), ripe or burnout stages of adaptation (see left painting). And drawn out some other concepts based on the images and stories we hear as migrants. The shelter where we are developing these ideas and paintings is full of columns where we’d like to display our paintings with a display system lasercut from banana boxes represented in this image. This shelter is like a great ship, full of creative and juicy ideas, are you on board now?

PROJECT 3: WE ARE THE LEADERS OF TOMORROW
Hassan, a participant in the Bruckner Art Club made drawings of his home nation’s capital plaza. Two weeks later he drew it again. So I asked him more about Chad, and from the drawings and stories we developed a composition that he then took a month to paint. In one of his painting sessions he shared an idea with me, he wanted to meet and give Mayor Mamdani a T-Shirt that read: “We are the Leaders of Tomorrow". We designed the T-Shirt, and made his vision a reality. This residency would help us continue to support Hassan’s leadership and artistic development.
